About SIGOTT
In February 2015 the Special Interest Group for Ocular Tissue Transplantion was initiated and established by the Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery (NIIOS) to promote the exchange of information, cooperation and innovation in the field of ocular tissue transplantation.
In the last decades, there have been a lot of developments in the field of tissue transplantation. The specialists of NIIOS experience both internationally and locally an increasing demand to share knowledge and to jointly bring innovations to a higher level. This applies not only to the field of clinical ophthalmology, but also to other specialties involved in tissue transplantation. In addition information exchange and collaboration among different tissue banks involved in the whole process from tissue harvest to tissue transplantation can contribute to innovation.
The group has the following objectives:
- Setting up an international and local network of SIGOTT members;
- Information exchange in the field of tissue transplantation for ophthalmic surgery;
- Collaboration in the field of research activities;
- Depending on the initiatives and interests of SIGOTT members the objectives may be broadened.
